Psychologist & Psychoanalyst
Founder of Psyc | Expert in Expat Psychology (EN/ES)
I’m Casandra Costa, a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with extensive experience working with expats. I’m also the founder of Psyc, a project dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of those living between languages, cultures, and countries.
Originally from Argentina, I’ve been living in Portugal for the past 18 years, and previously lived in Brazil and Italy. My personal journey — marked by emotional, cultural, and linguistic crossings — has given me a deep understanding of the psychological complexities involved in migration.
If you’re an expat, you know that living abroad is more than a geographical shift — it’s a profound psychological transformation that can stir up internal conflicts. Even with a stable job, financial security, and a support network, the emotional impact of being far from home often lingers. Distance from one’s native language, culture, and symbolic references can evoke feelings of emptiness, anxiety, insecurity, identity loss, loneliness, and grief.
Having lived through these transitions myself, I understand what it means to be far from your homeland. And as a psychoanalyst, I know how essential it is to have a space where your story can be heard and your suffering taken seriously.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults facing a range of issues: anxiety, depression, adaptation difficulties, existential crises, relationship conflicts, or the desire for deeper self-understanding. While these challenges aren’t always caused by migration, living abroad often acts as a catalyst — intensifying or revealing underlying psychological processes.
I offer an ethical, welcoming therapeutic space attuned to each person’s unique experience. Here, psychoanalysis is not just a treatment method — it’s a space for reflection, symbolic elaboration, and transformation. It helps put into words what often remains unspoken, opening possibilities for new ways of relating to oneself and the world — even when that world feels unfamiliar.
If you feel it’s time to speak, to understand, or simply to be heard with care and without judgment, I’m here to accompany you with respect and commitment.
Psychotherapy is, above all, an encounter — with language, with listening, and with the possibility of change.
Psychologist & Psychoanalyst
Specialist in Brazilian Women Abroad | Sessions in Portuguese (PT)
I am a Brazilian psychologist based in Portugal since 2018, with a clinical practice dedicated to supporting immigrant women—particularly Brazilian women living abroad. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Psychology from ISPA – Instituto Universitário de Ciências Psicológicas, Sociais e da Vida (Portugal), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from UECE (Brazil). I am also an Associate Member of Corpo Freudiano, a psychoanalytic study and training organization.
My clinical work takes place both in private practice—offered online and in person—and within a respected Portuguese association, where I provide psychological support to individuals who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse. I work with women, men, children, adolescents, and adults, offering a therapeutic space of care, trust, and transformation.
Alongside my clinical work, I have a long-standing passion for the written and spoken word. I engage in research that explores the intersections between psychology and literature, and I have published several articles in scientific journals, academic books, and digital platforms. For me, writing and listening are kindred forms of inquiry—both open paths in the search for meaning.
My clinical approach is grounded in ethical, sensitive, and attentive listening. I strive to offer a safe and welcoming space where each person’s uniqueness can be heard, valued, and respected.
